Welcome to the Hair & Beauty Learnscope Blog
Hair & Beauty at Meadowbank TAFE have embarked on a Learnscope Project. The aim of the project is to train teachers to become on-line facilitators. So far, we have had two meetings: the initial team meeting took place on Thursday June 1st, 2006 and the first training session was held on Thursday June 22nd, 2006.
Our Learnscope team consists of the following members: Suzanne Hattch (Head Teacher), Louise Thomas (Head Teacher), Paul Granger, Mara Colusso, Maryanne Fardy, Janice Vinton, Danielle Tedesco (Facilitator), Josie Mastroianni and Nicki Schell (Facilitator). Tania Cannon is our Project Manager.
This blog will record our team members thoughts and feelings about the project over the next coming months.

Thanks Nicki - it may be too early to give teacher access to everyone, but you and Danielle have this already in our Janison space so maybe you both can lead a demo. We also need to discuss and confirm other sessions and content. I have been thinking that you may want to demo the process you have gone through to create this blog space? Let’s discuss this when the three of us meet next Wed.

Michelle Butler replied: I really enjoyed our session on Wednesday, and am really pleased to be onboard, there is alot to learn and it is a little foreign at the moment, but extremely exciting! I think alot of students will benefit from e-learning as it individualizes their learning and for those students who are not comfortable asking questions in a class room situation, it seems less daunting online. It’s a great concept and as a teacher a skill that I believe will be extremely useful in the future.

Thanks Michelle for the enthusiasm and positive energy you are bringing to the learning. I hope you get lots out of it that you can use in your teaching. Owen

Maryannne:Hello everyone,
I thought the session was great and like nicki want to get straight into the teaching of it.. but reading your comment to Nicki you have so much more that we need to know…when is our next session? There is definently a need for this, as with face to face, we have already experienced a situation with second language students who did not want to hold the class up ( with explanations from the teacher)so choose to go off campus but could not understand that is was self learning and were in tears the first two weeks. Anyway thanks for the opportunity to do these sessions.

Hi Maryanne,
Thanks for making a comment on the last session. The next session is confirmed for this Wed 16/8 from 9:30 to 12:30 iat Meadowbank in K328.
Tania will send confirmation regarding this tomorrow.
We must discuss the issues you raised at the next meeting, particularly why learners ended up in tears.
