Final Thoughts

Well, we have almost come to the end of our learnscope project. Even though the end is near our work still continues. We have learnt an awsome amount which will allow us to continue working on our project for both hair and beauty well into next year and years to come. Niki and I have recieved some great feedback from both students and other staff memebers on what has been created which makes all the time and effort spent on our project very worth while. We hope to continue our work so students will benefit greatly and enjoy their educational experiences here at Meadowbank Tafe.

Learnscope Report

We have chosen to submit our Learnscope Report using our blog. Our Learnscope Powerpoint Presentation is in the Links Menu. Presently Danielle and I are working furiously to put the rest of our Retail Modules onto our Janison Framework to be ready for Semester 1, 2007. We are also building resources and games for both on-campus and off-campus. If anyone would like to talk to us about our work we welcome your questions.

With kind regards
Nicki Schell

Thoughts from Michele

Hi Nicki,
The link you gave me for some reason could not be found, so this is my comments.

My thoughts on the learnscope project....
I thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with the learnscope project,I have gained skills that I can use to develop resources for my students. I am really excited by the concept of e-learning, and believe it is very beneficial and relevant to our industry. Many modules that we deliver within our curriculum can be completed without the need of face to face teaching, which is beneficial to the student and facilitator. For this reason, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and hope to use the knowledge gained in the future.I would also be very interested in any further training available, as I can see that the sky is the limit with the possibilites of e-learning.

Final Thoughts on Learnscope Project from Team Members

Just a short not in reply to your request about the Learnscope project.

I am very impressed with the way you and Danielle have picked up and run with the knowledge you gained from the course. For my self I am still in awe of the things you can achieve using all the electronic tools available today. I must say that I have not put into to practice the things I have learned as much as I would like to. My problem is that I do not have very much time available to put into this and I find it is not something you can rush if you don’t really know what you are doing. I seem to hit unsurmountable barriers all the time and get very frustrated. I have purchased a new mobile phone that takes pictures so that I can moblog but I just don’t know where to start and have no time to sit down and sort it all out. The opportunity to be exposed to all of this was wonderful, but I feel that I was just exposed not given the opportunity to put it into practice to learn.
Hope this helps and I certainly do not want to sound negative. I feel that even though I have been working with computers for over thirty years I just can not keep up with the way they work and I understand that this is my problem. I just need a lot more time.

Learnscope Conference

On October 19 and 20 the Learnscope Team went to the Learnscope Conference held at Randwick Racecourse. This conference was an opportunity for us show others what we have been doing in our Learnscope project. We put together a Powerpoint presentation - please see the link in the side menu. This presentation included links to our Janison LMS, our digital stories, blogs and examples of the quadaries, drop and drags, quizzes and crosswords we have built.

I Picked the Wrong Session to Miss!

I can't believe I missed out on such a great session! I have seen Danielle's digital story and heard such good reports from Maryanne and Janice. Maryanne and I are now doing a Digital Story for Sell Products and Services - it would be great if we could have some help with this in our last session! Nicki

Next Learnscope Meeting - September 6

Hi Learnscopers!

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday September 6 at 9.30am. We will confirm the room but it looks like it is the same as before. We will have a guest presenter, Alex Hayes, who will tell us about Digital Storytelling - very exciting!

This week I can see all the work we have been doing on the Janison Framework coming together. There is so much to do though and so little time! Maryanne and I are very keen to have the Retail Framework up and running for after the holidays! It will be so much less time consuming than what we are doing now.

Owen - can you give us an update on how we can get into eclipse - Janice has said she is having problems.
